If you have followed along on my Facebook page for the last several years, you know that I have made a business out of painting furniture. I love to paint furniture (and yes I am still going to be painting furniture). I LOVE the hunt, LOVE to find a unique quality piece of furniture that needs help and I LOVE presenting the finished product! I can find some excellent quality pieces and turn them into real works of art with a little paint! I of course wanted to put my touch onto the Flip House and make a vanity out of a piece of furniture. I showed a picture several months ago of a vanity furniture piece I worked on for a lake house redo. I was bombarded with inquiries about turning furniture into vanities. I was blown away with the compliments and interest. I knew I had always loved these unique pieces as bathroom vanities so it was nice to see others liked them as much as I did.
When we started on the Flip House, I knew I would put my touches of paint around the house. The Hall Bath was a perfect spot to put a furniture piece turned vanity. It was not sandwiched in between 2 walls and I could have a little flexibility on width. The greatest challenge in working a furniture piece into a vanity is getting the right dimensions. The piece needs to be the right height, depth and especially width. This is hard when you have a real specific size bathroom. Sometimes custom cabinetry is the best option in those cases. The Hall Bath only had one wall on the left and the back wall so the width was more flexible.
I decided that I wanted a furniture piece for the Hall Bath and was immediately on the hunt. I have a confession to make. I am somewhat of a furniture hoarder! There I said it. Well my hoarding tendencies paid off with the piece that would become the hall bath vanity. I went to a local estate sale of a very well known family. It was the Hodgson family for my local readers. The house was beautiful and the furnishings were awesome. I think I bought 5 pieces of furniture from this sale. To say that it was successful is an understatement. The above picture is the beautiful sideboard as it sat at the estate sale. How could I pass up this beauty in the corner? Solid wood and a fine piece with great lines that was beckoning me to take it home. That sale was a year ago and she has sat in the warehouse. She just so happened to be the perfect measurements and the simple lines were perfect for the design of the house. It wasn’t too ornate and had moulding already around the bottom. IT. WAS. PERFECT! And now she lives at the flip house. Without further ado, I present the Hall Bath vanity. I somehow didn’t get pictures without the granite on the top so you get to see one of the countertops I chose. I love, love this bathroom and everything in it!
And here it is. I did a base coat of paint on it before it was put in and waited to finish it till everything was completely finished in the bathroom. Does that sound like someone that has learned from experience? Things can happen and get beat up during finishing plumbing, electrical, trim, etc. You can see on the far left, there will be trim run and I will have to paint that to finish it up.
Trim will be added on the the side and base moulding to the bottom of the wall against the tile.
The sink I chose is a hammered copper silver sink. Isn’t it stunning?
Here is the sink prior to being installed. I just LOVE it!
I hope you love this bathroom as much as I do! It is truly a huge change from the pink tile bathroom!
