Meet the Little Brick Cottage
I am in love! Yes I fell in love with this quaint little brick cottage as soon as I saw it. Even with its years (and years) of wear and tear, I could see the diamond in the rough. It was calling to me and I heard it loud and clear. It wanted love and I wanted to give it! I am so glad it became Flip #2! Now it can become a true beauty like it was years ago! This is truly an exciting one to be involved in. It is on one of the most desirable streets in our town and was highly sought after. Thank goodness we got it. It wasn’t easy but with a little luck, the little brick cottage is getting a full facelift.
Here is the deal for anyone that thinks it’s easy to just find a house and fix it up. Well it’s not that easy and it is very competitive. This particular house was on the market a few months before we went and looked at. It received 5 offers in the first week and the owner accepted one of those offers and off they went to closing. It was sad to see this one pop up and not be in a position to even consider it but we were in the middle of Flip #1 and there was no way we could buy another house without knowing how the first one would end up. Fast forward several months and the little brick house goes back on the market. My real estate agent calls and says to meet her ASAP. We go that morning and it was love at first sight and it was a sight for sure. Apparently the closing fell through on the original contract and the house went back on the market. Yay for us! We didn’t want this one to slip through our hands, so an offer was made and here we have Flip #2. After many, many years of rentals, the house was trashed. It’s like it was waiting on us to come help it. I can’t wait to journey through the renovations and addition on this one with you too! Without further ado, here she is!
As she sat in her sad little rundown state.
The stairs are literally crumpling.
The green metal awnings I declare will be one of the first things to go. Just ewww!
I have big plans for this tired little porch.
And the lovely green awnings. I think this used to be a screened in porch but the previous owners just let it go. They put plywood on the bottom around the front and side and the back was just left open. No door, plywood or anything. I will be changing all of that with a cool design to incorporate this porch.
This is a very narrow lot but the backyard is huge!
The back of the house. A big addition is planned for the back!
Here we go! I am so excited to get the opportunity to work on this house! It will go from a trashed rental to a great family home!
I know I have one more post left on Flip #1 but I couldn’t wait any longer to show you what we are currently working on. Thanks for joining me!
